PHILADELPHIA -- Injured Flyers forward Scott Laughton is scheduled to skate Monday, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
Laughton, 21, was taken off the ice on a stretcher during the first period of Game 4 against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center. He spent the night at Jefferson Hospital and was released the following evening.
"He's doing well," Hextall said. "The plan right now is for him to skate on Monday."
If there's a Game 7, Hextall said he didn't know if Laughton would be available to play.
With 3:49 remaining in the first period and the Flyers leading 1-0, Laughton was racing for the puck in the offensive zone with Capitals defenseman John Carlson. After the two made contact a few feet from the boards, Laughton went crashing horizontally and back-first at full speed into the end wall. His body flipped over, and he lay motionless and face down for several minutes behind the Washington net. He briefly moved his legs and arms before a trainer tended to him.
Laughton was playing in only his third Stanley Cup playoff game. He played 71 games for the Flyers during the regular season and scored seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points.
In addition, the Flyers' Sean Couturier, who has been sidelined since suffering an upper-body injury in Game 1, skated Saturday. He was expected to miss two weeks, and Hextall said that timeline has not changed and doesn't expect Couturier to play in this series.
