Sam Hinkie once held the title of president and general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers. He's responsible for drafting some of the young building blocks on the Sixers' roster, including Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor.
Hinkie had a "trust the process" motto while with the team, in hopes of constructing a competitive roster byway of the draft. However, he eventually stepped down from his positions with the Sixers in April of 2016.
While Philly continues to struggle, one bright spot has been the emergence of Embiid. This is the first season he's been healthy enough to play, and he's had a positive impact on both the city and the team itself.
The former Kansas Jayhawk feels he's played well enough to be an All-Star, so he took to Twitter to ask for Hinkie's vote.
Hinkie responded accordingly.
And, well, it seemed to make Embiid's day. He used a line from Kanye West's hit song "Ultralight Beam" to express his happiness.
There's a compelling case to be made for the 22-year-old. In just 25 minutes per game, he's averaging 19.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.
Hinkie may no longer work with the team, but he definitely made some important moves that could help shape the Sixers' franchise for years to come. Drafting Embiid third overall in 2014 was one of his better decisions.
