Local athlete wins honorary ESPY

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The ESPYs will air Wednesday at 8 p.m. on 6abc. Ahead of the broadcast, a local athlete got a huge honor.

Matthew Grabowski has been named an ESPY 2017 Arthur Ashe Courage Award honorary winner.

The 22-year old form Northeast Philadelphia has been a part of the Special Olympics since 2010.

He plays multiple sports.

Grabowski is a part of the organization's Athlete Leadership Team. In that role, he helps to improve training sites and competitions.

Grabowski says he's not only happy for himself, but also his family.
