The Philadelphia Phillies announced Monday that they have extended a qualifying offer to right-handed pitcher Jeremy Hellickson.
The offer is a one-year deal worth $17.2 million. If Hellickson declines it, the Phillies are eligible for a compensatory draft pick the following year if he signs elsewhere. Hellickson has seven days to accept or reject the offer.
Acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks last offseason, Hellickson broke out for the Phillies in 2016, going 12-10 with a 3.71 ERA in 32 starts.
The 29-year-old is 61-58 with a 3.90 ERA in his career.
