IRVING, Texas -- How much is Randy Gregory looking forward to being with the Dallas Cowboys?
The team's second-round pick got a star tattoo on his forearm.
There are plenty of ways to show allegiance, but the rookie linebacker has chosen to go the almost-permanent route with his tattoo.
The Cowboys certainly have hope right now that their chancy selection of Gregory, who failed a drug test at the NFL scouting combine and has had other off-field concerns, leads to an almost-permanent relationship as well.
Last week, Gregory said in an interview with ESPN Radio that immaturity was to blame for his off-field problems.
"That's something I've definitely been working on and something I can definitely fix," Gregory said Friday in the interview. "I'm 22 years old, but I think I carry myself real well and I think I need to carry myself a little bit better as far as decision-making goes. I think a lot of people are getting tied up in the weed and think it's just a weed problem.
"I don't think it's a weed problem. I think it's decision-making. I think I'm immature. I'm definitely working on that. I want to prove everyone wrong, and I want to do it with this team. I think this is the best team I can do that with."
He also was asked if he has smoked marijuana since failing the combine drug test.
"I haven't touched it. I'm feeling real good, too. This is a high in itself, to be honest. I'm high on life right now, and I don't want to lose this high," he said.
Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones talked with Gregory before deciding to use the team's second-round pick (No. 60 overall) on him.
