Source: Eagles, Mychal Kendricks agree to four-year, $29M extension

The Philadelphia Eagles and linebacker Mychal Kendricks have agreed to a four-year, $29 million extension that features a $16.4 million guarantee, a league source told ESPN's Adam Caplan.

The contract, which goes through 2019, averages $7.25 million per season. The maximum Kendricks can earn is $31.5 million, with bonuses based on Pro Bowl appearances. He is set to earn $16 million the first two years of the deal.

Kendricks tallied 83 tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles for the Eagles last season.

Kendricks, who was drafted in the second round of the 2012 draft by Philadelphia, was entering the final year of his rookie contract. Although he was the subject of trade rumors this offseason, the undersized Kendricks was seen as a key player for the Eagles.

"Mike Kendricks is not going anywhere," coach Chip Kelly said in early August. "I can tell you that right now. Write that down in ink."
