A scan on Tuesday showed thatPhiladelphia 76ers guardBen Simmons'right foot has healed, and he has been cleared for full contact, sources told ESPN.com.

Simmons can begin working in 5-on-5 games with his teammates immediately, but he won't play in the team's season finale on Wednesday or in summer league, sources said.

Simmons suffered the injury in September, and there was optimism the No. 1 overall pick from the 2016 draft would return during this season. But a follow-up scan in February revealed that the foot hadn't completely healed, and the team shut him down for the season.

"I did not have the season I wanted to," Simmons said in a video on Uninterrupted. "I thought I would come into the league ready to go. I had a setback, but it gave me a learning opportunity most guys don't get."

Sixers coach Brett Brown has said he hopes to make Simmons the team's starting point guard next season.
