Taney Dragons buzzing on social media

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Buzz over the Taney Dragons is roaring all across our region.

The Little League squad from South Philadelphia is in Williamsport Tuesday for the Little League World Series which kicks off on Thursday.

The team says it's blown away by all of the success and attention with social media on fire with excitement and support for the kids.

Many people have been asking where they can get hats and jerseys. Well, they are hot off the press.

The team tweeted that demand was high and they had to create all of it because they were hardly prepared!

In fact, their Twitter account was just created on Sunday after the big win over a team from Delaware.

The Phillies donated $6,700 so the players' families can be in Williamsport.

The Dragons are led by female pitcher Mo'Ne Davis, the first American girl heading to play in the Little League World Series in a decade. She was trending on Twitter Monday night.

The 13-year-old throws 70 mile per hour fastballs and when she comes out to the plate, it's to Beyonc's 'Run the World.'

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw gave Davis a shoutout today and accepted her pitching challenge.
