1 dead after motorcycle and vehicle collide in Delco

A motorcycle operator was killed after the bike and a vehicle collided in Springfield, Delaware County.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Saturday on West Springfield Road.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.

The bike crossed the center lines and struck the car head-on.

The impact projected the motorcycle driver over the car, and onto the SEPTA 101 tracks, temporarily halting service.

That driver died at the scene.

The female driver of the car was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
