LANSDALE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Two women are hospitalized after a serious accident involving a tractor trailer on the Northeast Extension in Lansdale, Montgomery County.

The accident reportedly happened around 2:21 p.m. Monday in the southbound lanes of the highway near Bethel Road.

A vehicle became trapped underneath the truck's trailer.

When the firefighters first got to the scene they were able to pop the passenger door and free 78-year-old Nahlin Duka.

However, the driver 55-year-old Cathrenia Moening of East Greensville, Pa. was pinned from the legs down.

Emergency personnel from fire departments and two ambulances worked together.

After a little more than an hour, Moening was pulled from the wreckage.

Both were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive.

The Towamencin Volunteer Fire Chief tells Action News it was an extended extrication because of the situation and they kept switching out firefighters because of the heat.
