Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, SEPTA's Trenton Regional Rail service to resume Monday

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Amtrak and SEPTA have both announced that they will resume service on their lines impacted by Tuesday night's train derailment that left eight people dead.

Amtrak now says it will resume full Northeast Corridor operations - including service between Philadelphia and New York City - effective Monday morning.

Operations will resume with departures from Philadelphia at 5:53 a.m. (Train 110) and New York City at 5:30 a.m. (Train 111).

All Amtrak Acela Express, Northeast Regional and other services resume.

"The safety of our passengers and crew remains our number one priority. Our infrastructure repairs have been made with the utmost care and emphasis on infrastructure integrity including complete compliance with Federal Railroad Administration directives," said Amtrak President & CEO Joe Boardman.

Coming on the heels of that, SEPTA also announced Sunday that they will resume service on their Trenton Regional Rail Line on Monday morning.

Due to an anticipated reduction in the number of operating tracks, SEPTA says trains in both directions will not stop at the North Philadelphia, Bridesburg and Tacony stations on Monday.

Service to and from these stations is tentatively expected to resume on Tuesday.

The transportation agency says customers should expect delays.

They are also advising customers who use the Chestnut Hill East Regional Rail Line to anticipate similar delays, since most trains traveling to and from Trenton also serve the Chestnut Hill East Line.
