WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware state police have identified a Newark man who was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 on Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 5:34 a.m. in the southbound lanes where I-95 South merges with I-495 South just north of I-295.
According to investigators, the driver of a Nissan Altima, identified as 44-year-old Taheed S. Williams, lost control of his vehicle.
The Nissan hit a concrete barrier before spinning around. The Nissan was then struck by a Toyota, also travelling southbound.
Police say Williams was not properly restrained. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Toyota caught fire after the crash. However, the driver of that vehicle was able to escape with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said it is not known if Williams was impaired at the time of the crash. Speed is not considered to be a factor, police say.
The incident remains under investigation.
