Man killed in head-on crash in Delaware ID'd

MONTCHANIN, Del. (WPVI) -- Police have released the name of the man who died in a head-on crash Wednesday in Montchanin, Delaware.

John Santangelo, 58, of Chadds Ford, died in the crash that happened around 7:45 a.m. in the 900 block of Montchanin Road near Adams Dam Road.

Investigators say 26-year-old Brandon Harper, of Hockessin, lost control of his Jeep Grand Cherokee as it crossed railroad tracks.

The vehicle entered the opposite lane and hit Santangelo's Toyota Rav 4.

Investigators say the Toyota flipped and landed on a stone wall on the edge of the road.

The Toyota's driver was properly restrained, police say, but died at the hospital from his injuries.

Harper is hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, police say. They do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
