Tractor-trailer catches fire on I-295 in Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- The remnants of a tractor-trailer fire is slowing traffic on I-295 in Delaware.

The fire broke out at 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the northbound lanes near Landers Spur in New Castle.

Action News is told the truck carrying a load of potatoes became completely engulfed in flames before firefighters arrived and put the fire out.

Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed firefighters on the scene and workers unloading what remained of the truck's cargo.

Only one lane of traffic was getting by in the left shoulder.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
