Drywall mishap jams westbound Schuylkill Expressway in Bala Cynwyd

BALA CYNWYD, Pa. (WPVI) -- A mishap involving a truck hauling drywall jammed traffic on the westbound Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) in Bala Cynwyd.

It happened around 6:00 a.m. Thursday between the City Avenue and Belmont Avenue exits.

Police tell Action News that somehow the truck lost its load of sheet rock.

Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed multiple pieces of the building material on the highway.

No injuries were reported.

All westbound lanes were blocked as police responded and cleanup work began.

The left lane of traffic was getting by at 6:30 a.m. The right lane and shoulder remained blocked as crews stacked the drywall in the shoulder.

Westbound traffic was backed up past Montgomery Drive for several hours.

There was no word what caused the load to come off the truck.
