VIDEO: Bolt bus bursts into flames
A Bolt bus, smoking on the side of a highway, did not stop traffic on the Massachusetts Turnpike until it blew up in dramatic fashion.

NEWTON, Mass. -- A bus from New York City caught fire in the outskirts of Boston, snarling traffic on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Television video showed flames and smoke spewing from the red-and-white Bolt bus parked at the roadside during the Monday evening rush hour and windows being blown out in an explosion.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which began around 5 p.m.

State police temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of the highway in suburban Newton but then reopened the left travel lane after the fire was extinguished. The highway reopened around 7 p.m.

NECN reports one of the 46 passengers said the bus stopped in Connecticut for a mechanical issue but later continued to Boston.

The bus company says it carried the passengers into Boston on another bus and it's investigating the fire.
