KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. -- A water main break caused flooding and a sinkhole near the King of Prussia Mall in Upper Merion Township.
Around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, crews responded to a water main break on the Mall Boulevard entrance ramp off Route 202 into the King of Prussia Mall.
The broken main caused a lot of water to gush out so the access road had to be shut down.
Aqua workers are in the process of replacing the 12-inch cast iron main.
There were no injuries.
Police say some homes in the area will temporary lose water service.
"A water main break, an Aqua line, water flowing into the roadway, and a couple of houses are going to be affected in the Valley Forge section of the town," Upper Merion Police Officer Jared Reiner said.
The break caused the Sullivan's Steakhouse to shut down for the day, but they had a solution for customers already inside.
"We were working and then all of a sudden we found out there was a flood so we came out and found out it was a sinkhole. The next thing we know the water is shut off. We had to serve guests bottle water," Olivia DiFalco of Sullivan's said.
Mall Boulevard, the entrance to the mall off Dekalb Pike (202), will be shut down overnight as Aqua workers make repairs.
