Riders respond to SEPTA's Regional Rail crunch

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The first of what will be many difficult morning commutes for SEPTA riders got underway early Tuesday morning.

Nearly one third of the Regional Rail trains could be out of service for weeks.

There is not a short term fix for this, and riders were being encouraged to have a contingency plan in place not just for Tuesday, but for days and even weeks to come.

At the Ardmore station it was pretty quiet before dawn, as a few commuters wait on the platform.

As the day goes on, the cars were expected to be full.

In Ardmore and elsewhere, commuters did their best to roll with the punches.

Commuters should be prepared that packed trains will pass by them.

There are thirteen thousand fewer seats, and with that in mind, SEPTA is encouraging riders to look for other options.

SEPTA is also urging customers to be patient.
