ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Tens of thousands of people in south Jersey remain without power Sunday after a blizzard hit the area.

Approximately, 18,000 Atlantic City Electric customers remain without power.

The company says sustained winds and coastal flooding have hampered restoration efforts on the barrier islands but conditions are expected to improve throughout the day.

There is major coastal flooding in Avalon, Margate, Tuckerton Beach, Beach Haven West, Sea Isle City, North Wildwood, Ocean City and Stone Harbor.

Coastal flooding is preventing their crews from accessing these areas for restoration.

Pennsylvania residents also experienced power outages Saturday night of a lesser extent with PECO reporting 150 outages and PPL reporting 165.

Delmarva Power reported about 800 outages in Delaware.
