Traffic was backed up in the area for hours after two separate crashes.
The interstate was closed for more than four hours between Kerlin Street/Exit 5 and I-476/Exit 7 during the morning rush.
"I've been on the road for four and a half hours from Delaware trying to get to work near west Philly," said Paula White of Newark.

According to police, the first crash happened just before 6 a.m. as cars were heading northbound on I-95 near mile marker 5.4 near the Kerlin Street ramp.
The crash involved a tractor-trailer which caught fire. That scene brought firefighters and clean-up crews out to douse flames and clear debris.
The driver and passenger of the car got out and ran from the scene and were later apprehended by state troopers.

Police said the first crash happened moments ahead of the driver involved in the wrong-way crash. That's when police said the driver turned around and started heading southbound in the northbound lanes.

That driver then hit multiple cars in the backlog of the crash. Police said the driver also got out of the car and ran from the scene. Troopers are still looking for that driver.
