Hana Ali, who owns Tabarek International Food, said she heard the gunshots outside her store inside the mall. One of the bullets struck her store and she said another bullet shattered the glass of the Sephora store next door.

"It was really scary, and then we went to the back, we were hiding," she recalled.

Ali says people were trying to get the gunman to put down the weapon.

"He was holding a gun and put it in between his legs. And three of them, I don't know if they are friends or whatever, they were fighting him trying to get him not to shoot," Ali said. "And then he was so powerful they couldn't get him, so they walked away from him. He took the gun and shot one of them."
