Police say 53-year-old Guillermo Ceballo was getting out of his parked minivan when the driver of a dark-colored SUV struck him and kept going.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and placed in critical condition.
Members of Ceballo's family say they have been by his side at Jefferson Hospital where he remains in a coma.
"I am feeling very bad. I am hoping maybe somebody can help me see the video so we can figure out who did this," said his brother, Manuel DeRosario.
Sean Begley, who witnessed the crash, said it's difficult to explain just how violent the impact was.
"I happened to be leaving the Walgreens and I heard a loud bang," he said. "So, I came out. I thought it was a gunshot or something. I saw the whole thing, and then the vehicle took off."

On Wednesday night, accident investigators released a photo of the hit-and-run vehicle.
"The only description is a black or dark-colored SUV with possible damage to the passenger side, possibly missing or has a damaged passenger side-view mirror because we found some vehicle parts we believe belong to the striking vehicle," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
DeRosario said that while they certainly hope the person who did this is caught, they are much more hopeful that Guillermo is able to recover.
"He is a good brother. All my family, every time they are together, at some party or whatever, he works a lot. He got three kids," he said.
This was the third hit-and-run crash in Philadelphia in as many days.
Earlier Tuesday, a suspect turned himself in to police in connection to the deadly hit-and-run of 43-year-old Savon So at 6th Street and Oregon Avenue Sunday evening in South Philadelphia.

An anonymous tip led to the discovery of the vehicle in question.
The suspect has not been charged at this time but is fully cooperating with police.
Police have now located the white cargo van suspected in killing 31-year-old bicyclist Eduardo Jimenez Sunday night in Kensington. A $10,000 reward is being offered to help find the driver.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
