Driver convicted in stolen U-Haul chain-reaction crash that killed UDel grad student

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- A man has been convicted of causing a chain-reaction crash while behind the wheel of a stolen U-Haul truck, resulting in the death of a graduate student at the University of Delaware.

Gordon Turner was found guilty of first-degree murder, assault and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was driving a stolen U-Haul down Main Street in Newark when he hit and killed Marina Vasconcelos in April 2025.



Turner could face a minimum mandatory sentence of life in prison.
