PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Family members are grieving after a 60-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Monday in the city's Hunting Park section.

Roger Bailey's sister, who witnessed the crash, remains in shock.

"I will never forget what I just seen," Tanya Bailey said.

Police said the crash happened just before 4 a.m. in the 2500 block of West Hunting Park Avenue.

Bailey's car had broken down, and he called his sister for help with a jump. While he was standing between two vehicles, investigators say a 26-year-old woman slammed into them.

Traffic cameras captured the aftermath of the crash. Bailey's family said he suffered catastrophic injuries.

"All I could do I kept on calling 911, and all they kept doing was asking me questions. I kept telling them come help my brother, come help my brother, I need you to help my brother now," Tanya Bailey said. "His leg was this way, it was cut off, completely cut off, and I started screaming, I was upset."

Bailey was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"I knew he was gone. I felt it. Because when I leaned on him, he wasn't doing nothing no more, and I was saying Roger is going to be okay. It's going to be okay," she said through tears.

According to Tanya Bailey, the driver tried to flee the scene, but was chased and restrained by family members who were there until police arrived.

"I think it's heartless, because that's somebody's loved one that you were just gonna leave there," said Bailey's wife of 24 years, Keysha Abad-Bailey.

Abad-Bailey said he was a loving and dependable husband and father. He leaves behind five children.

"Roger was a jokester, he was a family man, he was a provider, a great father, and would do anything for you," Abad-Bailey said. "This is all so surreal for us. He was just here yesterday."

Family members say they are struggling to come to terms with how he died.

"I want everyone to know how good a father he is, a good husband he is, he's just a good man. I just want everyone to know that about him. He did not deserve to die like that, he did not," Tanya Bailey said.

Police have not publicly identified the suspect.

Authorities said charges are pending as the investigation continues.
