It happened at Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue at 1:40 a.m.
Police say after the two vehicles collided in the intersection, one car burst into flames, trapping a person inside. The other vehicle flipped upside down, ejecting the second victim.
In surveillance video obtained by Action News, you can see what police say is a speeding Mercury Milan traveling northbound on Broad Street as it approaches West Hunting Park. It then swerves into the southbound lanes, hitting a RAV 4.

"The Mercury Milan was traveling at a very high rate of speed -- highway speeds -- on Broad Street. So speed certainly played a factor here," said Philadelphia Police Capt. Robert Heinzroth.
Aqueelah Cutno said she was watching a movie with her dad when she heard the accident.
"I thought it was the gas station that caught on fire," she said.
She and her dad rushed out of the house and saw a man lying on the ground.
"This neighbor was crying. I was crying. It was really emotional to see and hear something like that. I was scared," said Cutno.
Police are not releasing the names of the deceased or details of the investigation. No other injuries were reported.
Just last week, Mayor Cherelle Parker signed a new law allowing for the installation of speed cameras along Broad Street. The cameras have helped along Roosevelt Boulevard and officials are hoping it will cut down on crashes on Broad Street,
