PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer who was wounded by a gunshot during a traffic stop was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

Brothers and sisters in blue stood and saluted as the injured highway patrolman was wheeled out of Temple University Hospital.

It was back on Monday night when the officer was shot in the leg.

Investigators say the suspect's gun went off as the officer performed a safety frisk following a traffic stop in North Philadelphia.

Rashid Walker, 26, was arrested at the scene on firearms charges.
