Police officer rushed to hospital after being shot in North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An investigation is underway after a police officer was shot on Monday night in North Philadelphia.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. near 17th and Cumberland streets, police said.

Sources tell Action News the officer was shot in the leg. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

One person has been taken into custody.
