Police investigating several shootings after violent weekend in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating multiple violent crimes from over the weekend.

At least 12 people were shot in six different incidents in the city over the span of just 16 hours. Authorities say two of those victims were killed.

A 42-year-old man was also shot in North Philadelphia Saturday night.

Officers got to the 100 block of West Tioga Street around 8:15 p.m., where they found a man who had been shot multiple times.

Police rushed him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.



Minutes later, police responded to a shooting on the 1900 block of Hunting Park Avenue in the Tioga-Nicetown neighborhood on Saturday night.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Two men were killed, and a 7-year-old was grazed by a bullet. The child's mother was also shot.

Police have not released a motive or announced any arrests in this case.

Then, just before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, a man was shot along the 6100 block of Walton Avenue in West Philadelphia. He was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.



A security guard also shot a man during a gathering in the 1600 block of Orthodox Street in Frankford.

Four people were hospitalized following a shooting in the city's East Falls neighborhood.

That shooting happened just before 5:30 a.m. Sunday near Roberts and Stokely streets.

Police say a 26-year-old woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was immediately taken to Temple University Hospital by police and remains in critical condition.

A second victim, a 23-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was also taken to Temple Hospital and is listed in stable condition.



A short time later, a third victim, a 33-year-old man, walked into Roxborough Hospital with a gunshot wound to the face.

He was later transported to Einstein Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

A fourth victim, also a 33-year-old man, arrived at Nazareth Hospital around 8 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the left arm.

Police say he is the suspect in the earlier shooting.

He was detained and transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for treatment as a prisoner hospital case.



Police continue to investigate.

And just before noon on Sunday, one person was shot in the 5100 block of Kingsessing Avenue in Kingsessing.
