Temporary encampment at Christina Park in Wilmington, Delaware, to close down

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A temporary encampment for those experiencing homelessness in Wilmington, Delaware, will close down.

The city officially sanctioned the tent village set up in Christina Park in January. It was meant to be temporary.

Mayor John Carney says he has a plan in place to help those affected.

He says he is working with community partners to connect them with housing and support services.

The city is also looking into long-term affordable housing options.
