Comcast says vandalism to blame for Super Bowl Sunday outage in parts of Philly, service restored

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Comcast says service has been restored after a Super Bowl Sunday outage that had Eagles fans voicing their frustrations on social media all afternoon.

A company spokesperson said vandalism was to blame for the service interruption in the Fishtown and Kensington neighborhoods.

Physical damage severed a fiberoptic cable in the Kensington section, spokesperson Jen Bilotta said.

She said the incident has been reported to police.

Bilotta added that the bulk of customers who lost cable had it back before kickoff.
