Hundreds step up to 'Do It Like Dylan' in memory of NJ student

PENNSAUKEN, New Jersey (WPVI) -- The tragic passing of a 20-year-old student has put a spotlight on epilepsy, and given his family a new mantra to live by.

Dylan Geller was studying special education at Rowan University. He passed away due to a seizure he experienced while riding a personal wavecraft on July 27, 2025.

His family knew the only way forward was to 'Do It Like Dylan.' The question was, how?

They created a foundation with a three-pronged approach. Their goal is to fund scholarships for special education teachers, support epilepsy research, and pass legislation to enshrine safety measures into law.

They have already submitted paperwork on legislation designed to educate people on the five levels of life jackets during boating and Jet Ski safety courses.

Nearly four months of work have culminated in a celebration today, Dylan's 21st birthday, at Cooper River Park.

Hundreds signed up to participate in the first Do It Like Dylan 5K, and contribute thousands of dollars to the cause.
