Arlo injuries
Arlo's rescuers say the dog had road rash all over his body, even down to the bone in some places

His owner said he was tied to a parked truck when someone got into that truck and took off, dragging Arlo about a mile down a dirt road in Santa Fe.

Arlo was finally freed when his collar broke, but the damage done to his small body was extensive.

He had road rash in some places down to the bone, and was obviously very frightened after the ordeal.

No word yet if the driver will be charged with a crime.

Meantime, the community has turned out to help Arlo in his recovery.

A YouCaring fundraiser has brought in more than $12,000 so far.

The people caring for Arlo say there will be a lot of medical expenses ahead, and a long road to recovery.

But for now, things seem promising.
