The job fair at the Atlantic City Convention Center was set to run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Thousands of recently laid-off casino workers in Atlantic City are getting some help finding new jobs.

Wednesday's job fair at the Atlantic City Convention Center comes after word that yet another casino is struggling to stay open.

Organizers say employers including Wawa and ShopRite will be on hand, offering hundreds of positions that need to be filled.

Over the last week or so the convention center has been transformed into a resource center for laid-off workers so people can get help filing for unemployment.

Thousands of casino workers have lost their jobs or will lose their jobs in the coming weeks.

The area was already struggling with high unemployment before the first casino closed in January.

Now officials are bracing for massive filings for unemployment and healthcare benefits after the closures of Showboat and Revel, and the coming closure of Trump Plaza on September 16th.

Just yesterday, Trump Entertainment filed for bankruptcy again, with executives say the Trump Taj Mahal could close in November unless it gets concessions from workers.

Executives say reorganization, not liquidation, is needed.

"Trump Taj Mahal is not closing," said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. "So there's not going to be any unemployment that's surrounding the Trump reorganization."

Wednesday's job fair runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in rooms 411 and 412 of the Atlantic City Convention Center.

Action News is told there will be computers and printers on hand so job seekers can print out their resumes.
