ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- A Maryland casino has returned to Atlantic City to host a two-day job fair as thousands of workers in the city prepare to be laid off.

After 19 years in the business, casino dealer Rose Nicolletti lost her job when the Atlantic Club closed this year.

On Tuesday, she came to the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel to interview with Maryland Live Casino, a casino that is growing.

"We need dealers, we need cashiers, we need you name it, slot techs, managers," Rudy Volpe of Maryland Live Casino said.

Atlantic City's casino woes are expected to hard hit bedroom communities like Galloway Township where the population is 37,000.

"It's very scary. Galloway Township is going to be the largest impacted community with job loss, upwards 1,500 jobs in Galloway Township that rely on Atlantic City," Galloway Township Mayor Don Purdy said.

Revel Casino Hotel announced last week that it was planning to close Sept. 2 after failing to find a buyer after declaring bankruptcy for a second time. The Showboat is closing on Aug. 31 and Trump Plaza is closing on Sept. 16.

With casino workers on unemployment, local shops and stores will be bracing for a tough times as families pinch pennies.

A tough real estate market is expected to worsen as some unemployed relocate.

Action News spoke with one Galloway resident, who works at the soon to close Revel, is leaving the area and heading to a job at that Casino in Maryland.

"I got the job. I'm going to be a bartender, so I'm pretty excited," the resident said.

The Maryland Live Casino Job Fair continues from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel.
