The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Redner's store in Middletown Twp.

According to the district attorney's office, the victim told police she had parked her truck near the back of the parking lot.

Almost immediately after getting out, she said a man grabbed her from behind.

The victim said she screamed and tried to get away but could not break the man's grip.

During the struggle, the victim said her attacker, identified by authorities as Pierson, pulled down her pants and punched her in the face.

The suspect lifted the woman up and moved toward his truck, but the victim said she continued to scream, which scared off her attacker.

The woman gave police a description of the vehicle her attacker was using and officers were able to track it down to a home in Bristol Township.

Pierson, who is known to police as a methamphetamine user, was arrested on Wednesday night after he left the home while driving another vehicle.

He is now being held on $1 million bail.

Shoppers told Action News that they are relieved he's behind bars.

"Justice was served. It definitely feels good," said David Gonzalez, of Twin Oaks.
