DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A deer carcass was found hanging inside a Bucks County high school football stadium, according to school officials.

The deer was discovered Thursday morning at Central Bucks High School West's War Memorial Stadium in Doylestown.

John J. Kopicki, the Superintendent of Schools, said staff immediately removed the carcass.

"I showed up when they were actually taking the deer off of the stadium so it was kind of heartbreaking," said senior Taylor Annhahn.

The school immediately removed the carcass and called police. Students can only surmise the prank is about one thing, and one thing only: Saturday's football game against arch-rival Central Bucks East.

"No doubt in my mind. Absolutely not," said senior Carter Breyer.

"Oh yeah, this is definitely about the game on Saturday," said senior Ian Donaher.

They are the CB West Bucks, and a deer is their mascot. There is a long history of taunting the other team ahead of the big matchup, even prior incidents involving dead deer.

However, students feel hanging the deer carcass went way too far.

"I know it's a rivalry, and I understand that. You know, it's a big game, you kind of want to poke fun at the other team, but stuff like that is just really disrespectful," said Breyer.

In a statement, Kopicki said the district does not condone acts of vandalism such as these and the district immediately informed local police. If identified, those responsible will face disciplinary consequences.

Students at CB West said they got the message loud and clear.

"We're going to be taking the high road I guess," said Donaher. "Not retaliating."

In his statement, Kopicki referenced the upcoming game between Central Bucks West and Central Bucks East on Saturday. Kopicki said extra security will be in place at both schools prior to the game.

The incident remains under investigation.
