TIOGA-NICETOWN (WPVI) -- A man was killed and another injured after police said a suspect walked up to an SUV and opened fire in the Tioga-Nicetown section of Philadelphia.
Police identify the man who was fatally as 27-year-old Brian Gravely.
His fiancée Jessica Betts was stunned to learn Gravely lost his life in the shooting. Gravely and Betts are the parents of a 2-year-old son.
"I'm actually still waiting for him to walk through the door, to tell me, 'I'm home, everything is OK,'" Betts said.
The shooting happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the 18th Street and Erie Avenue.
Police said a gunman walked up to a Mitsubishi SUV and opened fire into the driver side window.
Police found Gravely slumped over in the driver's seat. He'd been shot in the head and was pronounced dead by medics.
"We found numerous shell casings on the highway right next to the SUV. So we know the shooter was standing very close to the SUV when firing shots," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
While officers investigated the scene, a second victim, a 26-year-old man, was found inside his home a few blocks away.
Police said he had been sitting in the passenger seat of the SUV and was shot in the back. He ran home and was later taken to the hospital.
A third person in the SUV, who was sitting in the back seat, wasn't injured.
As Betts mourns the loss of her fiancée, she said she has remain strong.
"It's a hard pill to swallow, but I have to be strong for myself and our 2-year-old son," Betts said.
Detectives are searching for surveillance video to see if it can lead to the gunman.
