Florida Governor Rick Scott has issued a state of emergency ahead of a scheduled speaking event at the University of Florida.

White nationalist Richard Spencer is scheduled to speak at the university Thursday.

His previous speeches on college campuses have sparked protests, including at Auburn University in April and Texas A&M in December.

The University of Florida has increased security out of concerns protests could turn violent.
