NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Holy Family University is set to get a new leader this weekend.

Sister Maureen McGarrity will officially take over the helm of the Northeast Philadelphia school on Sunday.

McGarrity is no stranger to the school. That's where she got her BA in biology and has served for many years in various positions at the institution.

She will not only oversee the university itself, but also the Alpha House Nursery - a Pre-K and Kindergarten operated by the university, which serves the community and staffed by professional teachers.

She says her biggest challenge she faces as president is keeping the school a viable option to students.

Sister McGarrity says, "In the advent of online learning and all different kinds of delivery modes and the shifting of the population from traditional age to adult learners, it's just how to remain viable and affordable in this marketplace."

The official mass for the inauguration will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, followed by her actual induction.
