TIOGA-NICETOWN (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia elementary school is dealing with a possible infestation of fleas.

Several students at Steel Elementary in the Tioga-Nicetown section of the city have reported bug bites.

A letter went home to parents Monday letting them know the school is taking proactive measures.

Officials said crews have been treating classrooms, but so far they have not found any fleas.

"Every indication has shown us in this case it's been something from outside the school," said district spokesperson Lee Whack. "However, we as a school district have a responsibility to do the proper treatments and we're doing that."

The treatments do not require closing the school.
