CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Students in Center City left their classrooms Wednesday to protest in support of their teachers.

The protest took place outside the Science Leadership Academy at 22nd and Arch.

Earlier this week, the School Reform Commission canceled the contract with the teachers' union, the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers.

The teachers will keep their jobs without pay cuts, but they will now be asked to contribute to their health coverage.

The district says that will save $54 million in the first year and more after that.
