The gem of Germantown Academy is up for his third straight Oscar - this time in the Best Actor category for his role in American Sniper.

Also up for Best Actor Michael Keaton - and you may not know he's a native of

Robinson Township, Allegheny County.

Whiplash, starring Downingtown's Miles Teller is up for Best Picture.

University of Pennsylvania alum John Legend is also up for Best Original Song with Common for 'Glory' from Selma.

And Philadelphia born cinematographer Robert Yeoman is up for his work on

The Grand Budapest Hotel - which is up for Best Picture.

Lastly, Bennett Miller is up for Best Director for his work on Foxcatcher

It stars Best Actor nominee Steve Carrell as John DuPon, the eccentric heir to the DuPont chemical fortune who shot and killed wrestler Dave Schultz on his Foxcatcher estate in Newtown Square.
