Featuring some of America?s most cherished tunes, the Philly Pops are at it again with their newest program- American Song Book, Then and Now.

Internationally acclaimed vocalist, pianist and composer Tony DeSare joins The Pops for the show, adding his own contemporary approach to some all time classics.

Pops Music Director & Conductor Michael Krajewski says, "The songs on this program go all the way back to songs like I Love a Piano, Night and Day, but then coming up through songs like Kiss by Prince, Taking it to the Streets so a wide gamut, covering a lot of styles."

All the hits that we know and love have been re-imagined, "He has this unique ability to take songs that all of us know and love and kind of rework them in kind of his own personal style." Krajewski says it's something that makes DeSare's performance truly one of a kind.

"I think audiences are really going to respond to him tremendously. They're going to love hearing the songs that they know sung and performed by Tony DeSare in his own unique way."

And with their season almost over, Krajewski adds, there is really nothing like witnessing a Pops concert.

"You hear these guest artists, these singers, performers, who can deliver these songs that they are really experts at singing and performing...the music is so rich and so dynamic when you add the Philly Pops and that's really what's so unique and so special about coming to a Philly Pops concert."

American Song Book Then and Now runs March 13th through the 15th at Verizon Hall. For tickets go to TheArtsinPhilly.org.
