Chocolate: The Exhibition - 6abc Loves the Arts

December 29th, 2014 -- There's an exhibit at the Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University that you can sink your teeth into. From dark, to milk to bitter to sweet, chocolate has long been one of the world's most tantalizing treats. Chocolate: The Exhibition tells the confection's sweet story.

"It's been at every holiday we've had, yet we know very little about it."

Thank the ancient Mayans for discovering chocolate. They cultivated cacao seeds; fermented, dried, and roasted them. Then added spices to concoct a bitter frothy drink.

"It was popular and when the Aztecs came along they enthralled with chocolate and cocoa."

The Exhibit discusses Philadelphia's importance in developing chocolate in colonial times. Many say why would I come to the exhibit? All of the exploring and labor that went into chocolate, it will make it taste better.
