NEW YORK -- The fashions from the Met Gala tend to be outrageous, artsy and over the top.

But could one emerging trend from one of the biggest nights in fashion actually be functional?

Model Lily Aldridge wore some different-looking red things on her feet and legs which are both pants and shoes. They're called Pantashoes.

They are the work of fashion house Balenciaga, which sells the foot/legwear for $2,850 a piece.

Why waste time putting on pants and shoes when you can do it in one fell swoop?

The boot/trouser hybrid is a spandex-like material and they come in all sorts of colors.

After last night, the black is sold out.

Apparently they can be worn both as pants or under a dress to make your legs look longer.
