Saving: Get FREE help with tax preparation

The bad news is, tax season is here again. The good news is, many folks can get free help!

First of all, if you're doing your taxes, make sure you're not leaving money on the table.

One in five taxpayers eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit doesn't claim it, missing out on thousands of dollars in their federal income tax refunds.

Second, if you need help with your taxes, there are free services for families earning $53,000 or less, and individuals earning $20,000 or less.

There are 20 free preparation sites in Philadelphia, including a new site in Southwest Philadelphia. Plus a number of regional sites for people in other counties.

Volunteers from RSVP/Philadelphia are also offering free tax prep assistance. This is for people with incomes of $60,000 or less.

The volunteers are at the Klein JCC, located at 10111 Jamison Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.
