Football season is on, but for families, a day at an NFL stadium with can feel like a financial fumble - costing more than $400 dollars.

Buying tickets, parking and food can really add up, but we have a secret playbook on how to save big on game day.

Insider Will Flaherty from Seat Geek says first - wait it out.

Websites like Seat Geek and Vivid Seats offer deep discounts, with the prices continuing to drop the closer you get to game day.

"And if you wait til 24 and 48 hours before the game you'll tend to find the best deals," said Flaherty.

"Look? This ticket is $52 dollars would normally be close to $100, probably saving about 50%," he added.

When it comes to parking, Flaherty says instead of paying normal stadium parking prices, check out apps like Spot Hero and Park Whiz, they will save you money and a spot too.

Finally, bring your own food to the stadium. A family of 4 can spend up to $80 dollars on stadium fare.

Check the outside food policy and if you can, bring your own snacks to enjoy during the game.
