WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Firefighters battled large flames and thick smoke as they worked to get control of a building fire in West Philadelphia.

The flames broke out around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on Spruce Street near 60th Street.

The building, which housed a store front plus apartments on the upper floors, sustained major damage.

There were no reports of injuries.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the blaze.
