A new controversy is brewing over a new dress code for employees at Starbucks.

While tattoos and other body art are allowed, all precious gems - including engagement rings - can no longer be worn to work and must be left at home.

Employees started a petition on social media with men complaining that their wives can't wear their wedding rings.

Starbucks says the changes are based on federal food safety guidelines stating that gems are a hazard as they can become loose. Plain bands can be worn instead.
