Margate schools investigate meningitis report

MARTGATE, N.J. (WPVI) -- The superintendent of the Margate school system says officials are investigating a suspected case of viral meningitis at one of their schools.

Dr. Theresa DeFranco tells Action News she learned of the incident Sunday night and immediately contacted the Atlantic County Health Department.

The patient is being examined by a doctor with the Center for Infectious Diseases.

Because the person is not being identified, parents at both schools in the district have been notified about the case.
